The second day in a row KCC staff and supporters went out to reach more families in the community providing them with food parcels. Families were crying because they had not had food for days, only surviving with drinking water.

Today KCC managed to give 27 families their food parcels. Some of them where overwhelmed with emotions. One grandmother told Kgomotso that she and her grand-children had not had any food in the house for three days, only surviving with drinking water. She asked Kgomotso to come inside the house and showed her the empty shelves.

We take actions while government is still making plans. Due to lockdown Kgomotso Children Centre had to close its doors - but it didn’t close its eyes. We started the „We Can’t Eat Air - Campaign“ to hand out food parcels to 65 families of KCC kids who are in a desperate situation.

Due to the nation-wide lockdown KCC currently is closed. Few staff are staying at the centre for cases of emergency. It's expected we willl re-open when schools open again. Stay safe!

We are bringing cinema to the township! KCC is now doing a monthly movie day for the community. Kids, youth and adults - everyone is welcome. The next movie day will be 6 and 7 of March.

Shortly after KCC had opened its doors for another year the US ambassador came for a visit to get an impression of the work that is being done at the children's centre.

The visit of the US embassy had been scheduled for last year December, already, but as the ambassador of the United States herself wanted to join the delegation dates had been changed to January.

Coming out on top of more than 1,000 nominees Kgomotso Nyalungo, founder of KCC, has won the community builder of the year award for the dedicated work she has been doing. Congratulations Kgomotso for winning the Community Builder of the year award at the fifth Vita Basadi Awards of the Gauteng provincial legislature!

For the second time Kgomotso Children Centre hosted the career exhibition to give adolescent students an idea on future plans, education and job possibilities.Last year the idea broke ground to have a day for pupils from grade 9 to 12 where the can get informed about possible paths to take once they finish school. This career day became a huge success and it was obvious that this had not to be a once-off event.

This Youth Day KCC took it to another level. Two trucks and a dozen cars lined up for a fun drive through Soshanguve and Winterveld. After the drive celebrations went on.The last years KCC had been starting youth day with a long march through Block NN. This year the fun walk became a fun drive. Children and youth of KCC had dressed up in 1976 style vintage wear. They found their place on top of the two trucks while other guests had come with their cars to join the drive. The were accompanied by a brass band which would play all the way long.

June 16 KCC hosts the 7th Annual Community funwalk and youth celebration. It takes place on Machengers Sports Ground (Block LL, Soshanguve) from 9 a.m.

In March we were visited by #GTISanitaryPadDrive. They came to donate sanitary items to the girls of KCC. We like to share what they wrote after their visit.

For our 1st Drive for 2019, we identified Kgomotso Children's Centre as our recipient after going through their website and seeing that it has amazing activities that we would like to be a part of.
