Helping hands at KCC

18 July 2014. It was another Mandela Day but the first one after the passing of the South African icon. KCC, however, experienced the visit of another celebrity who came with her team for the day.

In the morning Sibongile Simelane brought a jumping castle for kids to play with for the day. Deep House Junkies had landed their music system to play music for the kids while everyone was working to improve KCC. The KCC children once more entertained the crowd with their performances of different songs related to the life of Nelson Mandela.

"Wow this is so cool. What you guys are doing here is so amazing." - Phuti Khomo on her Mandela Day visit to KCC

However, the kids were most amazed when Phuti Khomo came in the afternoon. Phuti is a South African actress, model, radio DJ, and founder of the Twadio Show. She and her team of the Twadio Show came to help building KCC and enjoyed time with the kids. They brought paint for painting the inside and outside walls. They helped to create a small vegetable garden behind the house. And, of course, they had brought a lot of time to dance and play games like skipping ropes, soccer and tennis with the kids. It was a great and unforgettable day for all. We are very thankful for them to come to KCC and for everything they did.

Moreover, we want to thank Wenzile Phaphama Security who donated groceries, soccer balls and tennis balls. They cleaned the front ground near the outside wall.

Phuti said that she loves what people do and have achieved at KCC and how they help the kids. She concluded that she will continue supporting KCC after this day. Before she left, she and her team served hot dogs and juice to all the kids and staff for lunch.
