Community builder of the year

Coming out on top of more than 1,000 nominees Kgomotso Nyalungo, founder of KCC, has won the community builder of the year award for the dedicated work she has been doing.

Congratulations Kgomotso for winning the Community Builder of the year award at the fifth Vita Basadi Awards of the Gauteng provincial legislature!

For more than a decade Kgomotso has been doing an amazing work. As the founder of Kgomotso Children Centre and Tshwane Ladies Forum she has been now rewarded an award honouring the remarkable impact she has had on her community. She managed to develop a children's centre that provides food and a safe place to more than 200 children. She fights for the neglected and vulnerable, women and girls in particular. This dedication lead her to the foundation of Tshwane Ladies Forum where she is a key figure in empowering females of all ages.

Kgomotso is working hard everyday to make her community a better place through improving the lives of others. She has a friendly ear to all those who come and seek advice or help. For more information you may read the article published at Pretoria North Rekord.

Kgomotso winner of 200 YSA

Kgomotso Mphela is one of the 2021 winners of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans. She was honoured in the category "rural development projects" together with 9 other fellow South Africans.

KCC opens new branch

On Youth Day 2021 Kgomotso Children Centre opened a new branch in Winterveld. Almost 10 years after moving from the original place under a tree in Winterveld to establish the youth centre at Block NN in Soshanguve KCC is happy to be back in Winterveld, again.

Happy to be back

After another closure due to the lockdown situation KCC has finally opened again in February. While some activities are still restricted due to level 3 lockdown everyone at KCC was eager to start again with their work.

Looking back at 2020

Looking back at 2020, a year that has been very difficult to all of us, we want to thank those who supported us throughtout the year. After we had started with the We Can't Eat Air Campaign in April more organisations and people approached KCC to offer their help.

All are fed!

On the third day of the "We Can't Eat Air - Campaign" the remaining families received their long-awaited food parcels. The first phase of the campaign has now come to an end. We thank everyone who helped to make it a great success.

Day 2 of We Can't Eat Air Campaign

The second day in a row KCC staff and supporters went out to reach more families in the community providing them with food parcels. Families were crying because they had not had food for days, only surviving with drinking water.

Staying strong!

We take actions while government is still making plans. Due to lockdown Kgomotso Children Centre had to close its doors - but it didn’t close its eyes. We started the „We Can’t Eat Air - Campaign“ to hand out food parcels to 65 families of KCC kids who are in a desperate situation.
