KCC launches Girls of Success

Another new project at KCC. Kgomotso Girls of Success started last month aiming at empowering teenage girls in Soshanguve. At workshops that will take place regularly, girls will discuss issues they come up with.Kgomotso Senauwa, programme manager of KCC, says that when she grew up she was exposed to many things lacking guidance or protection: "So, I decided to do something to make sure I prevent such from happening to other children. This girl's initiative is my way of educating these girls to take care of themselves and believe in themselves."

At the workshops they will be talking about self-confidence, self-esteem, teenage stages, menstruations, pregnancy, boys, family, community, education, and career. They are to support teenage girls to know who they are, empower them and support them with basic needs.

The first workshop will take place on 8 August. People are free to offer their help or to donate toiletries, sanitory towels and the like for the girls to be given away at those workshops. It's about everything a girl needs.
