For the third consecutive year KCC had been hosting the beauty pageant. It was topped of with the award giving ceremony for kids and staff who had achieved great things at KCC the previous year. The beauty pageant is one of the big events taking place at KCC anually. So, the three weeks of school holidays had been dominated by children and youth practicing for the day of beauty.
This year the beauty pageant took place at Ebenezer church, not far from KCC. Everyone was excited to contest for Mr and Mrs KCC. However, when contestants, judges, and guests had arrived electricity went off in the block. All of a sudden, everything was at stake. Fortunately, a generator could be fetched and, eventually, the event started. Girls and boys competed in two different age groups. The previous Mr and Mrs KCC lead them to the stage where they presented their individual beauty.
Inbetween the stage appearances of the contestants several other performances took place to entertain the guests. The KCC dance group was presenting items as well as the new drama group of KCC. They had made up an impressive drama about sexual abuse in just a few days time. Moreover, three guest dance groups - namely CID, Heartbreakers, and Exclusive Boys - performed kwasa dances and earned a lot of applause.
At three o'clock everyone moved to KCC to get some lunch. After lunch the judges announced the winners. With huge rounds of applause Mr and Mrs KCC were given their belts. Among the older boys and girls Karabo was named Mrs KCC while Nkosinathi was named Mr KCC. Princesses were Khensani and Thokozile, Princes were Lawrence and Samson. Among the young kids Tshepang was named Mrs KCC and Siyabonga Mr KCC. Princesses were Tshiamo and Princess, Prince were Boipelo and Gosiame.
The sun had set already when the award giving ceremony took place to top the day. Children and youth of KCC were presented with certificates for extraordinary achievements during the previous years. Awards for best attendance, best soccer player, best accomplishment in mathmatics, english, life orientation, and dance were given to children as well as awards for staff.
It was a beautiful event and after a long day everyone was thankful it had turned out great.
