Since early this year KCC has been partnering with a new project called Asina Valo. Together they hosted an exciting sports and games tournament and made it a unique day.
The kids had been practising for a long time in advance to get ready for the special day and staff had been busy with preparations. Finally, on April 8 it all paid off. The ground was packed with over 300 children, adolescents and young adults who came to participate in the different tournaments. Celebrating tolerance and respect for each other the day was dominated by joy and good moods.
Even other organizations came to have a look at what KCC is doing. They got a good impression of the huge variety of activities that are done and offered at KCC. Have a look at the photos to share some of the great moments of this wonderful day.
Asina Valo is a Zulu expression meaning 'no fear'. The Asina Valo LGBTI movement wants to raise awareness and gives lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people a voice. It says 'no discrimination, no judgement, no rejection and no punishment' regardless of one's sexual orientation. It was Kgomotso who started the Asina Valo movement: >>There was a kid who used to come to me for advice saying: "At home I am forced to wear a skirt and they take me to church." This took me to a corner to start this movement because I am a Christian and therefore I am to help people.<<
