Today, Kgomotso Children Centre was on the road making its mark on several occasions. They auditioned for SABC's morning live news, won prizes at a talent competition and shoot a documentary with Plus Fab.
In the morning, the KCC dance group went to an audition for SABC 2's morning live news. After the audition they were chosen to perform at an event of morning live news on 30 November. The performance will be recorded live. In preparation of the event, the dance group will be taken shopping for uniforms.
In the afternoon, KCC left the auditions and went to a talent competition at revival church in Soshanguve Block FF. There were eight organisations competing in five categories which were dancing, solo music, band music, spelling bee, and poetry. The children and youth of Kgomotso Children Centre performed very well and won in both categories they had registered for.
One first place trophy was received in dancing. In this category the junior dance group of KCC children from age six to twelve performed a gumboot dance which wowed the three judges and spectators. They eventually were chosen winners of this category. Moreover, the KCC senior dance group of youth from 14 to 18 years of age came in as runners-up. They had performed a tsonga dance. The other first place trophy was awarded to Nnene in the category of spelling bee. She was chosen the best in spelling English words.
While some of the KCC children were at the talent competition another group of KCC kids was shooting a documentary with the Plus Fab company. The documentary is about the 16 days of activism which is a motion supporting victis of rape and violence against children and women.
