KCC dance group performed on SABC2

Last Wednesday, November 30, one day before World AIDS day the dance group of Kgomotso Children Centre was invited to Setshaba Research Centre to perform live on SABC 2's morning live news.Just a few weeks ago, KCC had been auditioning for the morning live news. They had been chosen that day to dance at Setshaba Research Centre when SABC would come to report about the start of the trial of a newly developed HIV vaccine.

It was a big day for KCC, newspapers and television reporting nation wide. Kids arrived early in the morning and were invited to have breakfast. Then, they were painting their hands on a wall raising awareness of HIV and AIDS. The live broadcast started on time and KCC performed after Larry Corey from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle, USA, had spoken. It was only one other group, Bokamoso centre, that had been chosen to entertain at the event.

People were impressed with the dance KCC did. Besides Larry Corey, Glenda Grey, the president and executive officer of the South African Medial Reserach Council, and other doctors and nurses were present. KCC was very glad to have been given this opportunity on such an important event in the fight against HIV.
